FAQ: Direct Primary Care

What is Direct Primary Care (DPC)?

Direct Primary Care is a membership model where patients pay a flat monthly fee directly to their doctor for comprehensive primary care. It removes insurance billing for routine care to keep costs transparent and predictable.

What does the membership include?

Most memberships include unlimited office/virtual visits, same- or next-day appointments, annual exams, basic in-house labs, care coordination, and transparent pricing for additional services.

Do I still need insurance?

Yes. DPC covers day-to-day primary care. We recommend separate coverage (e.g., high-deductible plan) for emergencies, hospitalizations, and specialist care.

How is DPC different from concierge medicine?

DPC emphasizes accessibility and affordability, typically at a lower monthly fee and without insurance billing. Concierge practices often charge higher retainers and may still bill insurance.

Is DPC affordable?

For many people, the monthly fee is often less than a typical cell phone bill, and can reduce out-of-pocket costs by avoiding urgent care visits and surprise bills.
